I asked the same question and never got any answers. I live with this everyday and yes, it does hurt because if you care then it will hurt when things don't work out as expected. Good intentions will not go unpunished! But I keep on doing it...crazy I guess.

Well, it does not hurt me 'all the time'. There are occasional 'moral dilemmas' that involve difficult choices. But, nobody ever promised us our lives would be easy all the time.

It doesn't always hurt to do the right thing. BUT, the fact that you do the right thing even though it hurts indicates you have much honor and courage. Hold your head high. The pain passes and you grow a little in the mean time.
