Here is what I would tell him before he could get a word in:
My husband, is a football coach who drinks too much lately, and last week he wrecked the car with a loaded gun on the front seat at the time, which is why I have to take this freaking bus, and he and his buddies, have decided to start waiting for me at the bus stop because last week some guy was messing with me. And then I would say, you don't mind if I move to another seat, thanks!
    That would end that!

After this freaky story, I don't want to sit near anyone on bus trip.

    Ha! Ha!
I get this kind of thing happening to me all the time - doesn't matter whether I'm at the supermarket, on a bus, or collecting a takeaway, strangers and even stranger things happen to me.

I've had strangers flash random parts of their diseased anatomy at me in the middle of a chemist, I've had strangers turn up on my doorstep wanting to stroke my a**e and I've even been invited on a date to a funeral.

My mates always thought it was hilarious and it took me a good long while to start seeing the funny side, but I've started putting some of my stories online here if you want a bit of a laugh: http://www.gustyblusts.com

That happened to me on the subway actually. If they pose no threat (i.e. no touching, threats, etc) I just smile politely and put on my headphones or begin to pretend to text. What can happen in an empty bus with a driver anyway? Anything beyond that and I am not afraid to change seats or tell the driver.
