Although not exactly an official sport, the various world militaries often have "War Games" ... many are even international competitions.

Lacrosse (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lacrosse) originally was played by teams of 100 to 1000 players each. Today it is played in America usually with 10 players on each side, but there are variants with 20 or more players played today in other parts of the world. Australian football is played with 18 players on each side. Leaving the filed of ball games, one could look at the increasingly popular dragon boat races originating from China. some boats have teams of 50 persons in them.
