What do you think of powdered milk?

I used to keep powdered milk on hand when raising my kids if I was in a bind. I'd add some to the regular milk and make it last. Other than that, I don't like powdered milk. I wasn't aware that you asked controversial questions! LOL!

:P My mom used to use it to stretch regular milk and it's pretty good that way. :)

I tried it once and never tried it again it was nasty and nothing like milk in anyway to me.

We lived on it growing up. Mom would buy a gallon of the good stuff and then mix half and half and make 2 gallons....by itself was horrible and more horrible in a bowl of cereal.

Ugh. The smell of it puts me off. Altho I admit I have used it in baking and I couldn't tell the difference.

The only thing it's good for is cooking. I bought a box a few months ago for a recipe and 98% of it is still sitting in the cupboard. Why? Do you need some? I'll gladly send it to you! :)

I used to mix 1 gal. milk made with powdered milk and 1 gal of regular milk. Result was between 1% and 2% milk most of the time. No major bitching from anyone!!!! I worked in a creamery processing plant at one time. We made butter, buttermilk, powdered milk, condensed milk and powdered buttermilk. Everything is used!!!

If I used it all the time I would make it and Chill overnight so it had time to rest.

Fine for making things with, like baking or bubble tea mix (<3), but I wouldn't mix it up and drink it straight.
