  • about 200 bucks, an maybe comunity service' also if its the first ticket you've ever had ask them to keep it off your insurance.
  • To find out what the law is in your state, type "speeding law + Illinois" in your google or Yahoo search. http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/people/injury/enforce/speedlaws501/toc/ilspeed.pdf
  • YARNLADY has the right idea...check it out online. You can loose your license. You can be jailed. You can pay a BIG fine. Your insurance will cost you a TON more than you ever thought was unfair as a 16 year old before. These are worse case scenerios. It will probably be less, but may combined all these things and more. I suspect Illinois has a mandatory court appearance for this, most states do. DO NOT MISS IT! You should look into an attorney. This may cost you several hundred dollars. I hope to God you were about the most polite young man the arresting officer EVER met, too. If you were even the LEAST bit disrespectful, you can expect no leniency from him in court. And before the judge, you'd better also be the best dressed, cleanest cut, most respectful young man in his court. And you'd better be right up front with how utterly stupid you were and how you know that there is absolutely NO excuse for what you did. These people (police officers expecially, judges also) know what the statistics are for deaths, injuries, and vehicular manslaughter for people your age who don't realise how irresponsible such driving is. Police officers expecially, when they are often first on the scene for tragic accidents and who also must deliver the bad news to unsuspecting parents. In that light, these people are far more likely to go heavier on a young person in the hopes that the punishment will serve to deter you in the future. Your ABSOLUTE best behavior will go far to help you in this. Good luck. And please, don't do this again! I wouldn't want to read about you in the obituaries.
