Why do people often refer to being pregnant as being Prego? Isn't that a pasta sauce?

They're not using the Italian word. They are saying preg-o. Like a Fonzie sort of thing. Yes. Prego is a brand of pasta sauce. But "Prego" is Italian for "I pray", and is usually used in response to "grazie" ("thanks"), where in English one would say "You're welcome."
