  • can't give you all year, but in the osaka area for december/january, it's a little chilly, in the fifties during the day, sometimes sixties, and drops below freezing at night. there is some snow, with it becoming more frequent towards the end of january. overall, pretty nice weather. cloudy some days, sunny others, never really rained much.
  • OK then since Triorion gave a synopsis of Dec/Jan for Osaka (mainland Japan) I'll give spring season for Okinawa (southwest of the main island of Japan)--typically humid, especially the closer you get to the summer months. 80's (Fahrenheit) during the day, 60's at night. Rain is not uncommon, and typhoon season starts roughly around June and doesn't let up until the temperatures start to drop in the Pacific Ocean region (they don't happen daily, by any means, but it's just something to be cognizant of, much like hurricane season in New England and the East Coast). Summer months can get very humid and hot, average in the 90's for temperature. Snow is fairly rare in Okinawa, from what I understand; as far north as Osaka is (especially with the rising terrain), it makes sense that snow would fall there.
  • Of course it depends on where you are in Japan, after all the country is not so big (slightly smaller than Great Britain) but it is long (from Hokkaido to Okinawa is about 2,000 Km). I will give you the general weather for Tokyo (Kanto plain). Spring is nice but weather is changeable. Sometimes the weather is warm but lots of cool/cold days too. Nights are generally cold. And plenty of rain. Temps 15-25C. Summer is hot and humid. From Mid June to Mid July it is rainy season and it is possible to have rain any day. The humidity is high (70-90%). Some thunder storms occur. August is hellish. Temps around 30C or more every day. Nights it doesn't go much below 25. Autumn is quite comfortable. Hot days but with less humidity. Nights are cooler. Lots of clear, blue skies and breezes. Like spring without as much rain though there is a mini-rainy season in September. October and November are quite pleasant. Winter is cold and dry. Humidity is quite low. Snow flurries can occur in Dec, Jan and even Feb. Occasionally, large snow falls can come. Skies are absolutely clear and you can see a long way. Temps in low 10's to below zero centigrade. Not much rain.
