  • Of course it is better to have all the answers but recently I have been learning that ignorance really is bliss.
  • Paradoxically the two compliment each other. A good question will tend to lead to good answers, whereas a bad, or badly worded question will give often divergent and unfocused answers. Hindsight is a great thing, and a site like answerbag allows us to look at which questions that have been asked have received the most answers. There is usually a corrolation where these can be seen as being good questions, and the format of their phrasing can be used to ask further questions that can be seen as being good. From a personal point of view I find I prefer to answer questions rather than question answers, so think giving good answers is more important.
  • If you only give good answers, people won't always listen to you. If you ask good questions, people will be always be compelled to think about what you said. I think good questions wins it.
  • It is better to ask a good question. this makes people think ie "think for themself" when you give good answers, you are helping that person but also hurting that person. when people don t have to think, thay don't and eventually hardly ever will. Did you ever go to a check out line at a grocery store and watch a younger generation completely depend on the "computer" or register to tell them how much change to give you? many can't do simple math in their head. People need to use their minds. "Use it or loose it"! (its too late for me. I lost mine you see ;] )
  • Gotta come down strongly on the "good questions" side here. A good question is like a searchlight, scanning the landscape. All sorts of answers turn up in its beam. Normally we focus on the answers, because we crave the sense of solid knowledge that they seem to offer. But its actually the act of inquiry itself which empowers us more than having some fixed and "permanent" answer. Only the most trivial issues can be reduced to a simple answer. But a good question can keep doing its work for years, keeping us on our toes, expanding our awareness, and bringing us back to reality when we fall into the complacency of arrogance about our knowledge. The question you're asking here, BTW, is an excellent one...!
  • Any question is a good question as long as it is not something that you asked to be silly..(unless your in the outside the bag, etc. category)..so I would say giving helpful answers is better.
  • gotta have to good questions to have good answers. so a mix of both
