It differs, though they basically want at least a moderately manly man in public and a moderately sensitive guy in private. However, that is more for long term, for they usually go for the rough guys if they just want sex.

What women want is a life long question, some women say we (women) don't know, well, I know what I want. Want someone who wants me, to please me, who cares about me, to have a good conversation with me, someone who wants quality time with me in and out of the bed room-sexual and nonsexual, someone to laugh with me, someone who would do anything he could to make me happy! That is what this women wants, I'm not sure if others agree but I hope it is at least a start for you.

I, personally, would just like a guy who makes me feel like I'm the world to him. I like to feel important, like he'd drop everything just to be with me or to make me happy. A guy who gives surprises is always great too. I would also appreciate a man who doesn't have too much pride and is willing to compromise. It's great to have common interests, but if you don't, it would be great if you'd be willing to try out your partner's interests (even if you don't like them) just to make her happy. Oh, and don't forget to take care of yourself too. Appearance means a lot - not necessarily being naturally attractive, but just showing you take pride in the way you look.

This may be a sweeping generalisation but ive found this differs in relation to age. Younger women look for the good looking, popular guys whereas women looking for a more stable solid relationship look for a man who is caring, can provide for them and be a good partner.
