  • Well Windows is a bit twitchy (I'm assuming you're running Windows) with drivers. If you have some device whose device driver is less than superior quality, it may be causing kernel faults that can restart the machine. Another possibility is poor quality memory: the cheap stuff sometimes is borderline on meeting specifications -- if it flakes out at just the right point executing kernel code, that can cause reboots. I've solved this by replacing memory in the past. Basically, there are about 10,000,000 specific possible causes, these are a couple of the more common ones.
  • This is a classic symptom of a computer's power supply failing. It may also have to do with the memory.
