Most of the time I see a film because of story line - what it's about. (then hope somebody decent is in it! lol)

But if I'm going to watch an oldie (classic or vintage film), then I'll go with actors, directors, etc in addition to story line .. just to complete a set of work .. much like seeing more paintings by a given artist or hearing more music. For example, think I've seen every Bette Davis film .. and most all Hitchcock films.

Current films again? If I hear that an actor/actress I like has a new film out? Won't necessarily go see it, but I "will" check out what it is .. the plot line! lol Often that means 1 of 3 things: go see it, wait for the DVD then rent it or pass on it altogether and hope for a better project next time. :)

    The story line.

I really don't care if one of my favorite actors are in the movie.

Usually because of the story line. I don't watch a film simply because Angelina Jolie or Brad Pitt is there.

I usually only watch a movie if I hear that it has a good story line, or if my friends make me watch it.

  • I decide to watch a movie if I think it sounds interesting (I don't know the plot/story line until I watch) although I am guilty of watching movies due to a certain actor/actress being in the film as well. : )

The storyline, handsdown. but if i was to see a movie with Jim Carrey i'd go see him in any movie. He's as hell, and he was really serious in the number 23!

There are a few directors and actors who's films I'll see simply because of their participation but The Age of Innocence just didn't interest me at all.

    Toobad for you.

There are a lot of elements.

If I see a clever plotline, I might forego if I see crappy actors. (Stephen Segal or Stephen Baldwin = ALWAYS a BAD IDEA!!!!)

At the same time, I'll give a lame plotline a chance if I see a lot of high-quality actors involved. ("Bobby", "Ocean's 11" "...12" and "...13", "Burn After Reading"<-Weird movie!)

There's also directors who do good work (Peter Jackson, Frank Miller, Stephen Spielberg. Tim Burton is also pretty solid.)

Or companies that do good stuff - Legendary Pictures, Focus Features, Warner Independent Films. Lionsgate is a bit of a risk... they're kinda off-and-on when it comes to movie quality. United Artists is solid, but not exemplary. MGM (Which merged with UA) and Paramount are great for old classics.

Wow... I seriously need to get a life.

    I do both.

the stoy line has to be good and the actors and actresses are usually funny or just very sarcastic.

Well, having Johnny Depp or Sean Bean is always a plus... but it's usually for the storyline for me, primarily.

But, sometimes, not even that. If it's a horror sometimes I don't even read the back of the box, it being horror is good enough for me. >_>

Maybe it's because I watch too much of this genre, but I find myself often disappointed by storylines which sound neat...so I don't even know why I watch movies to begin with. XD

    sincerely

    Nowadays, it is the storyline.

I have already seen every movie James Dean (my favorite actor) starred in and I have seen every movie of Pier Angeli (my favorite actress)that is available on VHS and I have seen almost every movie Natalie Wood (my second favorite actress) starred in -- except for The Cracker Factory and The Candidate and some other movie she starred in with that actor who played the boss on the hilarious television show Just Shoot Me.

The Cracker Factory has a great storyline and came out in the late 1970s or in 1980. I am not certain.

I definitely choose by the story line. I have favortie actors, but if the story line truely doesn't interest me, than you can have the best cast in the world and I still won't watch it.

    Done. never again.

The storyline. Although if Tom Hanks is in it, I would go because he is a great actor, and good at choosing scripts he wants to work on.
