I recently got a used car in great shape- purrs like a kitten, but the folks who owned it were nasty. Cleaned 2 bags of garbage out of it & a bag of used kitty litter. Interior has a moldy smell & fruitflies! What should I use to get rid of the odor?

That moldy smell can mean mice. (If there are fruit flies, there are probably mice living on the leavings too.) Check to see if there are any nests. You can use carpet shampoo unless it's leather. Febreeze helps too.

I bought a used car with trashed interior for a great price and heres is what I did. (If you have some mechanical aptitude) I removed the seats carpet and the carpet pad. It is really not that hard if you take your time. Just look at all the edges of the carpet and unsnap trim that holds it in. Then look for the seat bolts and remove them to take the seats out. When you are done you can wipe down the floor of the body and any thing that may be moldy. Then you can take the carpet to a spray off car wash (or use your own power washer) and spray it off. The power washer gets the deep in dirt out quickly. Also wash the back. If there is pad, soak it in a tub with soapy water and then rinse and dry. There is really not a better way to get the interior really clean, and to get rid of mould. Good luck and I hope this helps.
