  • (This answer is neither to defend nor oppose whether a woman should cover her face). I dont think it says a woman must cover her face, it says a woman must cover her beauty. Most people agree, her beauty is her (hourglass) figure and her chest & Hair. A minority of people add to this that since women's faces are (in general) beautiful, then the women must cover it up & some people say, that is not part of her beauty.
  • You can find out all you want to know about the koran on U-tube its very interesting, and interpretated well
  • As Cs01kh pointed out in his answer there is no specific mention of a face covering in the HQ. The first HQ verse quoted below talks about Jilbaab (plural jalabeeb, which is the word in the HQ) a loose cloak to cover the body. Khimaar (plural khumur, as used in the second HQ verse below) is a large shawl covering the head and shoulders. Ladies are asked to draw their khumur over so that their bossoms are covered as well. The word Hijaab means a barrier, a separation. When applied to covering for women it refers to both the jilbaab and khimaar, or their equivalents in other customs. However, the word is increasingly, and inaccurately, becoming exclusively associated with the headscarf. HQ 33:59 "O Prophet! Tell thy wives and daughters, and the believing women, that they should cast their outer garments (jalabeeb) over their persons: that is most appropriate so that they should be recognised (and respected) and not pestered. And God is Oft- Forgiving, Most Merciful." HQ 24:31 "And say to the believing women that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty; that they should not display their beauty and ornaments except what (must ordinarily) appear thereof; that they should draw their veils (khumur) over their bosoms and not display their beauty except to their husbands, their fathers, their husband's fathers, their sons, their husbands' sons, their brothers or their brothers' sons, or their sisters' sons, or their women, or the slaves whom their right hands possess, or male servants free of physical needs, or small children who have no sense of the shame of sex; and that they should not strike their feet in order to draw attention to their hidden ornaments. And O ye Believers! turn ye all together towards Allah, that ye may attain Bliss."
  • 24:31 “And say to the believing (women) that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty” “that they should not display their beauty & ornaments except what (ordinarily) appear thereof” “that they should draw their veils over their bosoms & not display their beauty except to their husbands, their fathers, their husband’s fathers, their sons, their husband’s sons, their brothers or their brothers’ sons, or their sisters’ sons, or their women, or the slaves whom their right hands possess, or male attendants free from sexual desires, or small children who have no carnal knowledge of women; & that they should not strike their feet in order to draw attention to their hidden ornaments. And O ye believers! Turn ye all together towards Allah in repentance that ye may be successful”
  • As with most religions, it is made up as people see fit to tie in with their agenda.
  • No, it is a symbol of repression, the Koran says only that women should dress modestly: there is nothing specific about covering the hair or face.
  • I never said "all", I said most. I am a Muslim.
