The current world record in high diving is held by Dana Kunze at 172 ft (52.42 m).

Oliver Favre dived 177 ft (53.94 m) into open water in 1987 in France, but sustained injuries (broken back) and had to be pulled from the water. Under the recognized rules for a world record attempt he had to walk away on his own power, which he didn’t, and hench it is not accepted as a world record.
