Question

Help answer this question below.

I recently got 4 kittens, they were nicely potty trained for the first 5 months and now the 2 females are urinating in corners of the bathroom and on couches. The Boundary spray doesn't work and there are no medical conditions. Any suggestions?

Cats are highly individual and somewhat fastidious. In talking with friends who have several indoor cats, one or more of the cats may have a problem with things that the others could care less about. For example, some cats do not like using the same cat box that the others are using. Some owners have at least 2 or more cat boxes. Cats usually like to use a clean cat box too; how it smells makes a big difference to them.

Also be aware that there can be psychological reasons why cats urinate outside of the box. They may be upset or unhappy about something.

Once a cat has urinated somewhere besides the litter box they will continue to go back to the same spot. That's why you need to find something with an overriding scent to keep them from returning to it. Check with some other pet stores. I know there are some good products that will help.
