  • Once the jar is opened the vacu seal is lost and it will go rancid over time
  • It's been packaged in a way that keeps air out. Once you open the jar, bacteria start to grow and you must keep it in the fridge. Just like jelly, canned and jarred fruits, pasta sauce...
  • You refrigerate it at home aftewr it is opened. If you don't all of the organisms you let in when you opened the jar will breed, multiply, spoil it and make you sick. Once the cover is removed it needs to be refrigerated to stop that process at least slow it down some.
  • After it's opened it will get grossed out.
  • As long as it has it's seal, it's safe from deterioration and contamination. But when you open it, there isn't enough acidity or other things in it to keep it from getting rancid or growing a whole farm of bacterial creatures, especially if you keep sticking a spoon or knife in there.
