Question

Help answer this question below.

Does anyone else notice that people pay more for things on ebay than they would if they actully went to a real shop. Do you think its because they think they are going to get a bargin so belive they are? If not because of this then why?

Probably lots of reasons people spend more on ebay. Ummmm ... brainstorming (over first cup of coffee! lol)?

-- good old supply and demand? If they believe the item is rare or "one of a kind", might pay more than it's worth just to be "the one who gets it"

-- a variation on that? Maybe there are lots of whatever it is "out there", but for whatever reason, the bidder can't get them where they live. So to "them", it's rare, as they don't have other sources to get it.

-- Nel already said "people get carried away". Yup. I'll call that auction fever. Takes at least two bidders. Happens at in-person auctions too. A bidding war ensues.

-- Could be "an emotional buy" or "impulse buy" vs a rational one. Works in stores we walk into too. Who knows what the spark is, but it ignites. The colors in the ad, the words used, the photo, a childhood memory, "something in the advertising connects" and bids go in.

-- On the other hand, could just be because the sky is blue or they got a great deal on one thing then proceeded to pay five times more than needed on another. lol

I think people get carried away. And they don't research what things actually cost.

I've sold old DVDs on ebay for more than they cost new on Amazon. It's weird!
