Ask good questions, and give good, thoughtful answers, and you'll receive points. Don't forget to thank those who answer your questions, and award points to their answers and to other questions, too. Others won't give you points if you're not giving any out. . .

Obviously I am not a pro at this subject because I should be more advanced with my points- or let's say: I am not willing to apply methods so many AB'ers use because I want to stay satisfied with myself.
From my observations, the quickest achievements are asking simple to answer questions. I like questions where a discussion can emerge, and by commenting back and forth and really thinking about it - but that is no way to climb the ladder quickly. Another good way is to ask questions of common interest, like national games, national holidays and so on, having it phrased politely and responding well. A third way would be to awaken the curiosity of people. I once asked what others think I just threw away? Well, well, that went surprisingly good.

Maybe I have been doing this all wrong, I have being trying hard to come up with good answers and slowly getting to level 16, I should have been rude to people and bashed them on the head with a large bible and I would have got more points than BAM by now!
Avatar StillThinking Dec, 17 2006 at 05:48 PM
maybe you're right Psyonic, but at least your answers help people.

StillThinking? one year on!
This place doesn't make sense points-wise, Psyonic, that's why I'm here today - I should be way up in the leader-board but I'm really low down, and I cannot work out why, except I don't ask questions about sex! Sex sells!

Well you already know how it works. but the fastest way is get people to like you so as where they are looking to answer your questions or feel good about you answering their questions.
learn it is a give and take relationship. those who do not give response and or points to those that offer answers or ask good questions will find those people will not point or respond back.
You want to give good post rather it be a question or an answer. good as in where people can relate to what you are saying.
A good rule is treat those you met here like you would like to be treated. you want point but do not give points your not going to move up very fast.
someone answers your question it is a good thing to show them is that you acknowledge their opinion. Just asking a question and moving on will not make people respond well.

Ask a somewhat silly, thought-provoking question that can be answered in ten words or fewer. Those tend to get the most points.

Ask as silly a question as you can think of that will be easy to answer for as many people as possible, especially if the answers don't need to be informative. Examples - What does your shirt say, right now? What does the 3rd line of page 18 of the nearest book to you say?

You'll have made the points you want, but you'll have added nothing worthwhile to your existing knowledge. I think you'll get more enjoyment if you don't get into a race for points.

It seems like a cool way to keep this format honest. In other words, I think it will go a long way to keep the answers helpful. I use this forum to get legitimate answers to real questions. I can't stand it when people get goofy with their answers. Thanks for keepin' it real, Answerbag!

Yeah, I'm quilty of "jokey banter" myself. I was having a bad answerbag day when I wrote this answer. However, it can get a little annoying sometimes.
