I've been told by several people that applying colour to your hair can cause it to turn gray. Is this true?

Thanks - I've always thought that once you stop colouring your hair, you notice how gray it actually is, but some people think the colour turned it gray because they don't know what their natural colour is anymore.

I never heard that either, i dye my hair all the time and its still fine then again im 17. That could be a factor. But ive heard over a period of time that your hair gets thinner though.

No I never heard that. Age can turn you gray not color, that covers gray. If you get your hair done professionally coloring can also give it lots of volume..

I don't know exactly, but it seemed like it got worse since I've been dyeing my hair. It also seems to make hair thinner, too, over a period of time.
