  • Because that darn glass is half empty.
  • It's in your nature to judge everything to discover what's good and what's not. Critical eyes are a good thing for a time, but remember to have an optimistic view once in a while or you'll be overwhelmed with depression.
  • because in a stealth depression like we are in realists and pessimists will agree.
  • Maybe you're not pessimistic. Maybe you're realistic but all the people around you are optimistic so you only feel you're pessimistic?
  • you're not pessimistic, you're realistic.
  • Because perhaps you've been overwhelmed with insurmountable no-good-experiences--that's more than enough to be pessimistic. On the other hand, you need to do your best to escape from it. But how you do that? Well, to change your mood(or mental state) you need to change an undesirable rate of "mental vibration". One may change his/her mental vibrations by an effort of Will, in the direction of deliberately fixing the Attention upon a more desirable state. "Will" directs the "Attention", and the "Attention" changes the "Vibration". In other words, cultivate the Art of Attention by means of the Will. Pessimism and Optimism are merely the two poles of the same thing. This is called the " Principle of Polarity", which means that the difference between these two is only in variable degrees. By using this principle, you concentrate upon the [opposite pole] to that which you desire to suppress--in this case, "Pessimism". Kill it out by changing (or reversing) its polarity. Am I to complicated for you dear? Let me give you this example that perhaps illustrates better what I'm trying to say. For example, if you are possessed of fear, do not waste time trying to rid yourself of that fear the same way you rid yourself of a pair of pants or shoes. It doesn't work that way. Instead, you get rid of any fear by "CULTIVATING" the quality of "COURAGE", and the fear will disappear. Let me know if my explanation is too complicated to grasp, and I'll do my best to make it easier.
  • If i could answer that i'd be an optimist
  • You have yet to see enough positive in the world, which might be due to the strong possibility that you have trained your mind to see only the bad. Allow the good to change your view, and let the bad humble you. It is the perfect system, for without humility, pride will replace joy.
  • "Because the mind is a terrible thing... and it must be stopped!"...Comedian Bob Nelson. Pessimism is only a symptom. Probably one of many. Kinda like a headache. You're asking us to tell you what's causing your headache, which we can not do. Ironically, tho' the two are similar in that the cause is probably in the same vacinity...your head. Repentance is a great word. It simply means to change. It require more effort than just words, it requires work. In order to change your pessimistic impulses, you have to work on the things that have set it into motion. Try keeping a journal so that at least you can become aware of what is good in your life, and what needs to be sickled. I suggest that you are pessimistic because you are probably very intelligent or talented. Somehow, they both come from the same part of your brain and the answer is probably that you aren't doing enough of the thing in which your lies your talent. I'm babaling. LoL Axe P.S. Having kids will not solve your problem.

  • Probably because experience so far has taught you to be, and that then becomes a hard cycle to break out of. I used to work for a guy whose attitude as something like, "why choose to be sad when you could just as easily choose to be happy?" I'm paraphrasing here a bit, but the basic message remains the same. If you change your outlook on life, good things will start to happen, and the pessimism will then be replaced by optimism.
  • Putting in efforts and "hoping" for a positive result is much better than just sitting and "expecting" the best....
