  • I am very fortunate to have seven generations of photos, dating from my great-great-great grandparents who were born in 1814 and 1819 respectively, and managed to be photographed in their last years of life (the 1890s) to two of their four daughters (including my great great grandmother), to my great-grandmother, my grandmother, my mother, myself and my daughters. The one of my great-great great grandmother, Mary Cameron, shows a taciturn old Scottish lady, whose face is similar to my grandmother's. Her daughter, Euphemia, looks like her mother, while her sister, Sarah, looks like her dad. My great grandmother looks like her mother and grandmother, and uncannily like her cousin, whose photo I have too. My grandmother looks like her mother and grandmother, but her colouring is darker, from her father's side. My mother looks more like her father's side, and I am quite a mix of my parents. My daughters look more like their father's side, though my elder girl has some features that resemble my sister. One interesting thing: my great-great great grandfather was a convict, sent to Australia from England in 1831. Although his photo was in sepia, there was a description of him on his convict indent, which revealed his eye colour....the same as mine.
