  • You can't really "stop" the peeling. Best bet is to scrape old paint off, prime, and paint again. If it's lead-based paint then you're supposed to have a licensed lead paint abatement professional remove it for you. You can buy a lead paint test kit at Home Depot or similar store for a few bucks. The "cheapest" solution is to just scrape and repaint the areas that are currently peeling. The "better" solution is to scrape/prep everything and repaint. Houses are normally repainted every 5-10 years depending on the quality of the paints and the weather conditions in your area.
