  • They come from both. Two ova, and two sperm are used to conceive twice at thew same time.
  • they come from the mothers side. they usually skip a generation also. my grandma has two sets of boy/girl twins (my mom being one)and i have a set of boy/girl twins. my doc told me they only come from moms side though identical twins are just coincidence, not genetic!
  • i also have a set of boy/girl twins and my doctor told me that is carried by me my husband only furnished the sperm. it does skip a generation my cousin had triples by 1 did not make it full term.
  • In order for there to be fraternal twins, the mother would have had to produce 2 eggs at the same time, so that they could both be present for fertilization and implantation at the same time. This would have to be a trait of the mother. The father only provides sperm, and since there are hoards of those little buggers around, he could potentially fertilize as many eggs as are present.
