Soprano is the highest, then mezzo-soprano (mezzo means middle) then alto (which is the same as contralto)

The male voices are tenor, baritone, bass (high-low)

Something that you might be interested to know, originally, in church choirs alto refered to male singers, and contralto was the same range, but female.

Hi! No. 1 - please spell it 'soprano,' not 'saprano.' Secondly - yes, a soprano is higher than a mezzo-soprano. If anyone tells you that a soprano is NOT higher than a mezzo soprano, they are wrong. All types of singers sing opera and have leading roles, also - not just sopranos! The female lead could be a sopranino (highest), soprano, mezzo soprano, alto, or contralto (lower than an alto and similar to a male tenor); a male lead could be a tenor, baritone, bass, or basso profundo which is the lowest. I am pretty close on this, but can't swear by all those names. I do know that my lists were in order of vocal range, from highest to lowest in each case (female, and male). But do check Wikipedia or any other encyclopedia for exact information on opera singers and their various ranges! I'm a jazz pianist & vocalist with perfect and relative pitch, graduated from the HS of Music & Art in NYC, and possess a BA Magna Cum Laude from City College of New York, so I studied music for years and years...and years!! Best of luck.
