gold is special because it never tarnishes. ive found gold deposited 100s of thousands of years ago in the rivers of Cal. and it is as bright as what you may buy in the mall. Also it will still shine in the shade. you can tell fools gold if you place it in the shade it dulls out .gold forever shines...
"the optimism on gold may be in need of a little dampening."
"gold may be ahead of the realities of the world,"
"Excessive money is flowing into gold, Schmidt warned. "The current price is extremely overbought during this period of financial panic," he wrote. "Holding and gloating over your profits is appropriate at the present time. Buying should await lower prices or a crack in the price of oil." "

As long as you take proper care it will not lose its shine soon, otherwise crevices will store dirt & that not gonna help. I advice you to go through forums related to jewelry care, it will definitely help keep your jewelry in good condition for many years to come.
Gold does not Oxidize so when found in ship wrecks it still shines after centuries. John
Gold can shine for a very long time, if it is taken care of.
Centuries, I'm guessing.
Forever. :-)
until you scratch so much that it dulls or until you drop it in the mud...
