  • The are diurectics, and they slow the body's release of ADH, "anti-diuretic hormone." ADH tells the body you don't have to pee, so that we're not going ALL the time. I think I'm getting this right. It's been several years since that college bio class.

  • Caffeine is a diuretic so it can make you urinate more. Plus it also inhibits an enzyme that is thought to regulate mucosal secretions in your small intestine. Secretions go up, so fluid in your bowel goes up, and if the amount of fluid in your colon is greater than the amount of fluid you can reabsorb, splat, you get diarrhea, or at least looser stools, a lot of them.
  • That's not always true with me. Yes, coffee does make me have to use the loo, and alcohol too once I break the seal, but I've been drinking a lot of water lately because apparently its good for you, and that makes me have to go a lot too. And energy drinks. That's just as bad as drinking alcohol. I have bladder problems, I think.
