    A fish is not a vegetable so anything containing anything from a fish would be rendered non-vegetarian.

    I think you are looking for the omega-3 fatty acids that are found in fish oil. A vegetarian would use flax seed, which provides that nutrient. I recently purchased a bag of whole seeds, and I sprinkle them on just about everything I eat.
