The American Comedy Awards were a group of awards presented annually since 1987 to honor performances and performers in the field of comedy. The last ACA ceremony was held in 2001 under the control of the cable network Comedy Central. Since the ACA's demise, they have been replaced by the network's own awards, the Commie Awards.

Comedy Central had a show called "The Commies" once although I don't think it would be considered anywhere near as prestigious as something like the Oscars. In fact, it may have been more a parody of awards shows than an actual awards show itself. I'm not sure.
What do you think of Chelsea Lately? Chelsea Handler has no talent and talks about nothing.

You're reading Are there awards specifically for comedians (like theatre has the Tonys, movies has the Oscars, music has the Grammy's, etc.)?

Nice info. A Friar's Roast may be considered an "honor" also.
