Is it possible that you're thinking of DaimlerChrysler's revival of the Maybach brand? According to the Wikipedia article on the two new Maybach models http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maybach_57_and_62 they range in price from about US$305,000 to $357,000. I suppose it's possible that under that brand, they may have recently introduced some new model, twice as expensive as the previous top-of-the-line, that isn't reflected yet in the Wikipedia articles on the subject.

I checked it out and I am assuming you mean the SLR McLaren. They've actually been around since the 90's. I remember nearly drooling over the F1. A beauty that still looks great 12 years later.
McLaren is not a myth. If you go to MBUSA.com it's right in the model lineup or you can search for SLR or McLaren. The MSRP is $452,750, but I read that some dealers have sold for $700,000.

This would appear to be a myth. According to the Mercedes Benz web page, there is no such line being offered. Check out http://www.mbusa.com/index.do
