What are some non-opioid analgesics? I've recently sprained my ankle rather badly (possibly broken my foot also) and seem to be allergic to most opioids. I am also unable to take Naproxen, and ibuprofen/acetaminophen are not working.

The best non-opioid analgesic is an atypical opioid derivative called Tramadol, marketed as Ultram. Most people who can't take opioids do fine with it, and it works very well. It's prescription only, but not a controlled substance. Anything that calms you down (Benedryl, Valium, Ambien) increases the analgesic effects. I'm the same way as you, and I have a ruptured tendon in my hip, so I'm in constant pain. 50 mg Tramadol + 10 mg Ambien and I'm in no pain, and I sleep well, too. Failing that, smoking weed and drinking alcohol can act as painkillers, too. Just something to try.
