I live in New York which is usually slightly colder than Pennsylvania. During most of the winter, I usually wear jeans, a shirt, a polar fleece, and possibly a heavier jacket on that. I never use thermal underwear or anything.

I would bring plenty of normal clothing and a bunch of fleeces, sweaters, and a winter jacket. Gloves and hats are vital if you're going to be outside for more than ten minutes.

Some people wear long underwear, I don't. It really is not that cold unless you get wet somehow or your fingers are exposed.

Thick socks and good shoes or hiking boots are recommended.

Well, it depends on the weather, where you're from, and how much time you spend outside. I get by fine in jeans and a regular winter coat, but I am pretty resistant to cold. Wear a hat that covers your ears. Girls like those tan fuzzy boots, so I guess they're fine, or just regular boots if you're not a young'un. There will probably be a good deal of snow on the ground. If you'll be outside a lot, some combination of leggings and sweatpants might be in order, especially if it's windy out. You won't need thermal underwear, but you might be more comfortable with it if you're from a southern area, again if you're going to be outside a lot. Gloves are a good idea as well.

I've never been there, but I know when groundhog day comes around Feb 2nd, It is held in PA.. there always seems to be fog in peoples breath, and/or snow on the ground. I would say it stays very cold through February.
