This is my first year growing beefsteak tomatoes, Why are they not getting tall, I have small green tomatoes about thumnail size. (lots of blooms)

Sometimes, if the weather isn't just to their liking, they will not grow very fast. They don't like it cool or too hot. Have you been taking off the suckers at the main branches so that more energy can go to making the tomatoes bigger? That is something I always do to produce better fruit. And what kind of beefsteak did you get. Some of them come in more bush growing varieties so they don't get very tall but will be quite wide and full instead.
