  • No. Eating fruit whole provides only the contents of the fruit. Blending the fruit in to a drink that has other components will add other calories and nutrients. Clearly an apple and an apple smoothie contain different stuff.
  • Alright, found a bunch of information here: http://www.nutrition-communications.com/publications_detail.php?publication_id=31. It talks about smoothies vs juices, but I was able to get some info out of it regarding it's comparison to fruit. It looks like smoothies not only offer more vitamin C but also offer a good source of fiber as they usually have healthy additives. However they are usually higher in sugar then fruit as well. Whole fruit also helps with your digestive process. Smoothies can still be good for you, but probably shouldn't be counted as a substitute for fruit.
  • I look at it this way Sara; if you like Yogurt, fresh fruit and soy milk and don't add extra sugar- Then it's pretty much a serving sugestion and much Smoother than chewing the fruit. Just watch portions.
  • Buy if you were going to eat an apple, a pot of yoghurt and drink a glass of soy milk, wouldn't blending it be the same? I would have thought so. As long as you don't add extra sugars etc...
