  • No communes that I know of, but there are monasteries. That's kind of like a commune.
  • I think thee's one called Walden Two close to Theodocia, MO nearthe border of Arkansas....not far from Eureka Springs
  • Absolutely. Almost all of them are living in the Boston Mountains in Northern Arkansas, not necessarily by the Missouri border, but Hwy. 7 and roads branching off it lead to many .A good place to start is Newton County. Communes now are less of the tent and bus living communities because most of the people living in these communes are older, 60's generation hippies. For the most part, they live in valleys around Arkansas mountains, most with houses and their own land. Just to give you an idea of how randomly placed they are, before most of the open land in Arkansas was annexed by the National Forest, commune livers, mostly from Texas, moved up to Arkansas in a group and squatted on land until they had been there long enough to gain ownership. So mostly, imagine the remote, dirt places possible to avoid problems with local law, they'll be close to a creek usually because until recently many that I know didn't have running water, and usually will be in a valley so they're able to farm and grow their own food. I hope this helped!
