  • My understanding is that E10 is hygroscopic - which means that it attracts moisture from the atmosphere. If E10 is left for a while in a tank then moisture build-up may occur leading to phase separation. If water is drawn into the engine then knocking and possible engine damage may occur. So How DO I Fix This? Don't allow your vehicle to stand for long inactive periods of time whereby phase separation may occur. E10 in your fuel tank should be changed every 2-3 weeks. Consult the vehicle manufacturer on fitting a water separator.
