  • If you make a lot of short trips around town you use the starter a lot more often than if you primarly drive longer trips.
  • It depends on what you mean by "die". Was the flywheel worn down or ground down? If so, then you may be holding the key in the start position a little too long, or maybe you have tried to start it while it was running. Did the bendix spring just go bad? If so, then you just were unlucky, or there was a problem with it all along. Did it just stop spinning all together? That sounds as simple as an electrical problem. If you are sure the cables were attached correctly, then it was probably the electrical in the starter itself. Without more info, I can't really get more specific. One question I have is who replaced it? If you had a shop do it, then who knows what the issue was.
