Occasionally, 2 people will carry on a lengthy conversation through comments to one of my questions. I get a notice about each one of those and it gets tedious. Those are the only times I unsubscribe to comments.

I haven't had to in a long time, but I have used that feature and in those rare occasions it's a wonderful feature. I've used it in the past to deal with rude or abusive users or just to remove myself from someone who merely wants to argue. It's so much better to just remove yourself than to get involved in a heated debate or retaliate against someone.

I do not unsubscribe from comments cos i love reading the comments that i get.. it makes AB more interesting and also helps me develop a mutual understanding with all other ABer's like me.. =)
-
Rarely. I do if I no longer have an interest in the conversation and other people are still engaged in it. I don't typically get into heated exchanges, so I can't recall the last time I used it for that purpose.

I didn't realize that clicking unsubscribe meant unsubscribing from just that comment thread. I thought it meant you were unsubscribing from ALL of them. I will certainly use it from now on!
-
I think I have ACTUALLY unsubscribed 3-4 times. I've probably SAID I was unsubscribing about 10 times. I tend to like reading the continuing conversations. The only time I can RECALL unsubscribing was in an argument with a conspiracy theorist who would not listen to my arguments (and PROOF) while he just stated what many CT sites say (NO proof). I will just let MOST arguments die out unless I see a couple of people going at it.

Yes. No. Usually because the thread has grown long enough to cause my dialup connection to stall when I try to load it. It takes my almost 8 minutes per MB and comment threads tend to stall on me around 250-300K.
-
Never. I fight to the finish. Sometimes people should unsubscribe though.

Occasionally, not often. I will typically unsubscribe for one of two reasons: 1. I am in a discussion with someone who refuses to listen to any point of view other than their own, or someone who has an agenda (political, religious, etc.) and is looking to be told what they want to hear. I will eventually decide that it is pointless to continue the conversation, and let the other user(s) know that I am walking away from it. 2. I comment on an answer, and two (or more) other users end up using it to chat with each other extensively. After 30 exchanges that have nothing to do with what I originally commented, I get tired of seeing my comment light go on all the time, so I'll unsubscribe.

No, I never unsubscribe. I like to see people's point of view and their opinion on some of the answers.
-
I did only once in the four months I have been here, it was absolutely necessary to avoid problems. Regards.
-
I've only unsubscribed once. I asked a political question and immediately regretted it.
-
Funny you should ask this just now. I just unsubscribed from a thread because it was definitley going to end in an argument. I have no need to get upset with someone who is here to say what he/she wants.
-
The only time I ever did, that I remember, it was an accident and I can't remember if I ever resubscribed to that thread.
