  • Hmm..maybe remove the cave so it has to go eat somewhere else? If you can, take all the fish out and thoroughly clean out the tank to get rid of the algae. If it's taking over, it's probably bad for them.
  • What about a snail? they don't seem to have a negative effect as far as "inches of fish" goes, and they're good with tank walls
  • Clarification: upon further research, this particular type of algae is "brown algae"... not "red algae". I've done a thorough deep-clean, which only seemed to anger the algae, and it grew back with a vengeance. I don't generally keep the light on all day (much to my husband's chagrin... he likes it on)... I don't know how to curb the growth!
  • mine did that i just tooskout the ship it was hiding in and now it stays in the coner when it is scared but i do see it out of the coner like late at night when there is no one walking around

  • i would recommend a few Amano Shrimp. They are very small because you are over your limit and they eat brown algea. they are also quite attractive (kind of)!
