  • Mayonnaise has egg yolk, oil and either lemon juice or mustard in it, regular (french style) dressing doesnt have the egg yolk just the oil and either lemon juice or vinegar plus flavorings. Once mayo is emulsified it stays that way regular dressing seperates.

  • 12-19-2016 Mayonnaise is an emulsion of egg yolk in oil using acid (vinegar or lemon juice) for the emulsifying agent and mustard for flavoring. Salad dressing is anything you put on a salad. BTW if you put cottage cheese in a blender it turns into something that looks just like mayo but has a lot less fat.
