An individual sold me a car with major engine problems. Is there a law against this? Can I return the car?

    Generally, when you buy a used car, it's bought "as is" and a guarantee does not go with it. there is an exception: if you have a written agreement, concerning mechanical, performance, etc. and signed by both parties, then you may have recourse in civil court. also, if this agreement was heard verbally, by a third party.

    If none of the above applies, you are pretty much stuck with it.

    only if the car is new, thats why you should have a trusted auto mechanic look over a used car before purchase
