For another, most of them are very busy, too busy to cook much between meals. For another, most don't have a lot of spare cash and what they do have they don't spend on food. They spend it on clothing and makeup because the pool of men who can afford to get married is small and the competition for them is great. For another, feminism never took hold here; they see "equal rights" every winter when 55-year-old women take their shovels and go outside to work while the male bosses run the power equipment or sit in heated offices. So they aren't interested in competing with men on men's terms. Ukrainian and Russian girls rarely leave the house without taking the trouble to look their best, and are quite skilful with makeup. I know a few who look very nice until they wash their makeup off, in which case you realize that it's more of a mask than anything. Boy, I'm not going to get any points for THIS answer! Truth hurts!
