I've had my tank for 2 months now, and I can't keep my water clear. It's yellowish... In my tank I have a peice of wood that I purchased with my tank at my local fish store. I think it might be the cause of the problem. Then why sell it?

Having worked in a pet store for many years, I can tell you that the only reason half the stuff sold there is so people will realize It doesn't work/Isn't good and go back and get something else. I can't even begin to tell you how many times I had to stop people from buying things, just so I didn't see them come back and complain, It's the nature of the beast, It's the same reason we can buy Big Macs and Hand guns, we all know they are bad for us, but we buy them anyways... Please take the time to read up on anything before you put it into your tank, also take the time to read how to maintain quality water for your type of fish/plants.

Wood is tricky sometimes... if found. Wood from a pet store is usually always treated so it will just discolor water, and no worries. -Soak the wood in a bucket, and daily change the water till its not yellow water being poured out. -I would recommend doing a few partial (10-15%) water changes from your tank weekly Aesthetically wood is unbeatable so use it, no bleach, and no boil, just soak before adding (Some wood is just bad, some stores will sell bad stuff, and its wood there’s more out there)
