How about seeing a counselor who specializes in phobias? Another option is a hypnotherapist. They can do wonders with people who have phobias if they are well trained.

    Go to my website: www.emetophobiahelp.blogspot.com
I'm not selling anything! It's just scholarly information I've written about emetophobia and how to find help.

Thanks for your response. I went to the doctors to discuss councilling and he told it me was all in my mind and I need to get stronger. I also spent nearly £1000 on acupuncture and hynotherapy but neither method worked.

    Thanks anyway

Having a nephew with this condition I know how it can affect the way you live your life. What worked for him was to expose himself to aspects of v******* at a pace he felt comfortable with.

Even if it was looking at a picture, if he didn't feel ready he could look away. When he felt comfortable with this he moved (very slowly) onto something that was perhaps a little more graphic. Always at a pace that HE was happy with rather than trying to rush things which tends not to work. (If it takes weeks or months it doesn't matter)

Once he could stand to look or listen to other people then he found it easier when he felt nauseus himself, as he realised that the actual physical symptoms were less stressful than the psychological ones. (The mind is a powerful thing) He realised that nothing bad was going to happen and although unpleasant, it would pass.

Speaking to other people who also suffer helped him considerably as he felt there were people he could speak to who understood how he felt.

Here are a couple of websites for people with the condition. You can perhaps speak to other people who may help you and give you further advice/ideas on what has helped them.

I hope the above has been of some help.

Realize you are in control of your own actions (if not emotions) and just because fear creeps down your spine, it doesn't mean you need to let it control you. I'm terribly Acro-Phobic, but I can walk around on loose scaffolding on the side of high-rise buildings in the middle of the night only by knowing what my emotions and how my body responds to those feelings, but also knowing that I need to go there and I am in charge of me, limited only by my own surrender to my own inhibitions.
