I assume you want it living and in good health, so that rules out the firearms or throwing rocks. My suggestion would be to get and ladder or climb a tree with a potato sack. That cat is not gonna be happy when you grab it, better it scratch up the potato sack than make you look like a scratching post. Hope this helps.

I used to be a firefighter, and we never went on cat rescues. (Except one time...when the chief's dog treed his next-door neighbors cat.) I remember my captain responding to someone's inquiry about a cat rescue once with: "Have you ever seen a cat skeleton up a tree?" His point was, that the cat would come down in its own time.
