Did you know that Otis Campbell the Mayberry town drunk never drank alcohol in real life and did many cartoon voice overs such as Elmer Fudd?

    I heard that he also stopped doing the town drunk because he did not want his children to see him in that way.

    Wow, he was Elmer Fudd? Did not know that. He drove me crazy on Mayberry. But i like Elamer Fudd.

    +4 question Chief Wanbli -Broken Feather - - I was fascinated, thinking only Mel Blanc did Elmer Fudd's voice and then superficially researched and found out about seven different actors have done Fudd's voice over the years! Cool. Thanks for the tidbit here. :)

    Hal Smith was Otis Campbell and the only episode of Andy Griffith where he didn't drink was Return to Mayberry when he was much older. He and his wife only had one son who passed away at a young age. He never did the voice for Elmer Fudd it was Mel Blanc. He did do a children's show many years ago called Shenanigans. It was like a huge game board that the kids moved around on.
