I've noticed a lot of people use the word "Meh" when posting messages or comments online these days. What does it actually mean?

It's kind of like a shrug. Like if someone asks how you're doing, you could say "Meh, I'm alright." It's also sometimes used for the word 'me'. Funny = funneh, kitty = kitteh, me = meh. That's usually used for captions on lolcats, those cat pictures with captions on them.
