  • Its the same exact thing John... except during capones days, there were less "strays" and crime was more organized now these skinny kids on the streets got uzi's they cant even hold steady, i think its a sloppier job plus, they drive-by over small beefs... Capone was big time
  • Capone's gang members were adults, their targets were other adult rivals, and it wasn't about cheap thrills, or shoot anyone just to get into a gang, or to pay someone back because of an imagined wrong that happened in a classroom or in a school hallway. Capone/s gang took orders from Capone, and didn't go out cruising on their own just to 'pop a cap' in someone. Although the concept of the drive-by is similar, I believe the shootings today are more frivolous as well as often for more trivial reasons than in Capone's day. Today we have kids shooting kids, and often over very trivial reasons. Today, we have kids fighting over turf for no other reason than to lay claim for the turf itself with nothing else at stake at all. I don't think you can truly compare the driveby's of Capone's day with the driveby's of today, for the most part, other than to say they're both driveby's, and some of the driveby's are related to competition over drug territories. The ones that don't are in a class of their own.
  • Thanks. is the difference that Al Capone was organized and gang members are not?
  • The newer ones are stupider and hurt more innocent people.
  • Capone' gang was much better organized, smarter, used bigger caliber weapons and tended to hit their targets more. If Al said he was gonna hit you, you got hit. And they were MUCH better at book keeping! I mean, what with all the illegal booze dealing and the killings that took place in broad daylight and all, the only thing they could pin on Capone in the end was TAX EVASION! Ya gotta give the man credit for that!
