Question:

I drive a 1997 F150. ext.cab. As I drive, the left front wheel makes a loud squeaking, (almost grinding) noise. When I apply the brakes, the steering wheel pulls to the right. Does this have anything to do with my rotors? What do you think it is?Pls help?

I have two suggestions and I don't think it's the rotor.

First since you say it pulls when you hit the brakes it could be that your brake pads have worn out completely and there's metal on metal when you hit the brakes. Some brake bads are designed with a small metal indicator that rubs on the rotor and makes a squeaking sound when the brake pads need changing. If the grinding noise gets louder when you hit the brakes than this is probably what the problem is.

Check the brakes and if that's not it I have another idea.

The grinding noise could also be a bad wheel bearing. I had a wheel bearing go on a Ford Ranger and it made some good grinding noise and it pulled to the side all the time not just when the brakes were on.

Sounds like your pads have worn down to the metal. You are causing damage to the rotor every time you drive the truck, and it is dangerous to continue. Get the truck to a certified brake specialist pronto.

Thank you for your answers so far....I figured it was something to do with either the brake pads, or rotor, or both. I really appreciate your advice.
