Mechanical digestion is where the food is physically broken into smaller pieces. This is what happens when you chew your food and does not result in a change in the composition of your food. Chemical digestion is the actual chemical breakdown of your food. This is caused by the various digestive juices (saliva, stomach acid, etc.) as they react with your food.

mechanical digestion is mechanical and chemical digestion is chemical

ie mechanical digestion involves force like chewing or the stomach churning and chemical digestion is the chemical reactions in the body to digest the food which are catalysed by enzymes such as protease which aids the breakdown of protein

Mechanical digestion includes the salivary glands tounge and teeth it starts by mastication (chewing) your food is mixed with your saliva then the process of peristalis which is the movement of food through the smooth muscle contraction.

Chemical is the action of enzymes, breaking down larger molecules to simple or smallr molecules which are then absorded by cells

the above is your answer in short

    Hope this helps you.

Mechanical Digestion is when food is being physically chewed up or being grinded. Chemical Digestion is using acid to digest the food bolus. It happens in the saliva, which contains enzymes, and it also happens in the stomach, which contains gastric juices.
