(http://www.irishstatutebook.ie/1989/en/act/pub/0006/sec0007.html) According to the Judicial Separation and Family Law Reform Act, 1989 you have no problem -- just go before the tribunal, stand in the dock, and give your case through your solicitor.

I wish this would happen more often. You shouldn't expose your kids to physical abuse. My stepdaughters mom has a live in boyfriend who abuses her and has abused one of her other kids. He has been convicted and served time but the system won't do anything to keep these people away from the kids. Who cares if mom decides to stay and get the shit kicked out of her but the kids shouldn't have to suffer. Thank god my husband got custody of his daughter and got her out of the situation because it affects her when she goes over there and is subject to the behavior. What you really need to do if your husband isn't willing to get help and change his ways then you need to protect your children and get the hell out. If provoked he could end up hitting one of the kids some day. Your responsibility is to your kids and to me that's the only way you should get them back. If this guy is the father or your kids then he needs to get help and have supervised visits with his kids and if he's not then that's good.
